Great Grill
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned or used many gas or propane grills through the years. This is by far the best one I have ever used.
It preheats rapidly and one can control the temperature easily. I have the one with the cast iron grates. Food does not easily slip through and it leaves the best grill marks. I have only had it for several months and cannot attest to it’s durability or life span. I highly recommend this grill to anyone considering purchasing it. I love it.
Great Grill
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Had this grill for a couple of weeks and it is great. Always lights on the first press of the button and gets hot very quickly. Putting it together could be tricky with with a little thought following the pictures and diagrams was all it took.
Gambled and won!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
OK, what gives with this ‘gambled and won’ header. Buying a Weber is not a gamble and the excellent reviews prove this and I will elaborate more on this later. The gamble is ordering an item that weighs 185 pounds and wondering just how damaged it will be when it arrives. I would imagine that everyone reading this review has had some type of shipping damages on large items they have purchases on the web.
The grill was shipped to me out of Tukwila, WA by a freight company called CEVA to New Orleans, LA and then was hot shot to me in Mobile, AL by Landis Transport. The box had one very small tear on the bottom surface. I cannot brag enough on these two shipping companies for a job well done. They get five stars!
Now for the grill assembly:
* Well packaged: everything wrapped, padded and well protected
* Assembly instructions very clear; anyone who can understand picture oriented instructions should be able to put this grill together.
* Part of the assembly needs two people and could take about 3 hours.
* Components are all top grade material, and lots of stainless steel.
* Parts fit together just as they are supposed to. No ill fitting pieces or ‘forced’ together components on this grill.
* Accurate gas tank monitor that is easy to use and easy to see.
* Easy to light burners and ones that will stay lit even in windy conditions.
* Easy to clean porcelain and stainless steel surfaces
* And the shipping box is large enough to turn into a fort for a 4-year old Grandson!
Now for the cooking review:
* Makes a mediocre outdoor cook like me look like they know what they are doing!
* The very high cooking temperature and design of the burners and grates turns the drippings to smoke, but does not flare up. This really adds to the flavor of the meats.
* Takes a lot of faith in the Weber to follow cooking suggestions because most grills you have probably used get a lot of flare up with high temperatures and then you have meat, especially hamburgers, that look like lumps of charcoal. Follow cooking directions – when it calls for HIGH DIRECT cooking, it means exactly that. Burners on HIGH, meat right on top of the burner and don’t mess with the goods until it is time, which is not very long – Amazing results.
* I have cooked steaks, hamburgers, chicken, ham steak, hot dogs using the directions. It is amazing how this very high heat seals in the juices, but does not burn the meat if you remove it in time. For instance, I pre-heat the grill to about 450F then put 1″ thick steaks directly over the burner for 4 minutes on each side. They are just right for me (medium) with a flavor that is better than any of my old grills can achieve.
Miscellaneous Comments:
* Does it use more gas (I use propane) because of its high cooking temperature than other grills? Personally, I do not think it does because the cooking times are much shorter.
* The burner controls take up most of the right table extension instead of mounted on front like other brands. This has not been a problem for me because I have table tops close by for a work surface. I do not know the reason for this, but it may have something to do with getting the controls as far away from the burners as possible. It gets really warm on the front of the grill when it is preheated to 400-500F.
* I have a concrete patio and the wheels work just fine. The two in front are lockable and I have found the grill easy to move in spite of its weight.
* The drip pan is easy to change, but seldom needs it because most everything that drips turns to smoke. In fact, after several months of regular use, I have very little in the pan.
Overall rating – of course it gets five stars!
great grill – lousy quality control at Weber
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Grill assembly is never easy and Weber’s instructions are as sketchy as most, but I wasn’t prepared for a cook box that wouldn’t drop into place. I thought it might be because the arms on one of the side frames were obviously not parallel as they should have been. Only after I finished assembly did I notice that the cook box was actually broken near one of the holes for the lid pin. I called Weber and a very helpful person sent me a new cook box and side frame. After an hour with disassembly and reassembly, I discovered the cause of the original breakage — the lid was too long and wouldn’t fit between the holes in the cook box. The cook box and lid are shipped assembled and clearly someone (or maybe a machine) had forced the lid into place, breaking the cookbox to make it fit.
Another call to Weber, this time talking with a nice person who just couldn’t seem to understand the problem; we got cut off and she didn’t call back although she had my number. Another call, this time to a very skeptical person who did agree to ship another lid. When it arrived it was fully 1/4″ shorter than the original and fit in place nicely.
The grill works very well! Finally!
Good solid grill

In the short time I have used my new Weber grill this seems to be a good product. I had been steered toward cheaper brands at my local retail store but I wanted a brand that will still be functioning for many years without wearing out. Shipping was fast and assembly was easy. I like the self lighting mechanism. The design and black color are very esthetic.
