I love these little BBQ’s and I just replaced my old one after 15 years of faithful service.
The thing I really hate about these is the igniter, which is practically worthless. The one on my old one lasted about 2 months before it refused to work anymore and I removed it and used matches or lighters.
This one that came with the new one refuses to work right out of the box. I called Weber to complain and they’re sending a new one but I doubt if it will be any better.
Like I said, I received 15 years of faithful, hard use out of my old one but come on Weber, make a better igniter! I can’t believe they haven’t improved it after all these years.

Originally, I loved this little grill. It is just the right size for my 3 person family. It is lightweight and easy to transport or clean. I like the fact that being made of thin metal, it cools down very quickly, so I only have to wait about ten minutes to let it cool off before I can pack it up to go home.
One bonus feature is that the metal shield between the burner and grill makes a good place to put wood chips and use it as a smoker! Alder wood smoked salmon… Mmmmmm! o do this, you have to make sure the wood chips are pre-soaked in water or else they will catch fire. Also, I found that if the lid is not left cracked open a little bit, too much smoke will be produced and smother the fire. That can be dangerous as the gas begins to build up. Once, I pushed the igniter after the flame had gone out without first taking off the lid to air it out. The gas sort of exploded and the lid went flying three feet into the air. No injuries
The downfall of the grill was my discovery of smoked breakfast links. I got the cheap variety sausage links aand smoked them with apple wood chips. Quite delicious. The problem with this unit is that it does not drain fat vey well. The fat somehow dripped into the burner and it has never worked the same since. The burner seems to be permanently clogged and does not get as ht as it used to. I guess its my fault for using wood chips with very fatty meat.
I would buy another one of these, but I would not use it for anything but lean cuts. My friend has a Thermos portable grill, and his has a grease catcher. An addition like that would make this my perfect grill.

I bought this grill to take with me to the beach. I lit it on a deck floor and had no issues with wood deck getting too hot (I did put a large aluminum pan under the grill to catch any drippings, though nothing dripped out). It took a while to light since the lighter was acting a bit odd, but once I got it going it worked nicely. This grill does not do well in the wind (but weber warns you about that). The flavorizer cooks food nicely, though there is definately a hot spot on this grill (the side opposite the propane canister). This grill is very portable and it packs up/travels nicely. It was a bit difficult finding propane canisters at a variety of stores since I was looking in the camping aisle. Aparently the smaller propane tanks are in the “blowtorch” section.
I was able to cook 6 burgers at a time. The propane canister lasts for about 1.5 hrs when the flame is set to high.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this grill for anyone who’s traveling.

awesome bbq! this is my 2nd one in 12 years. i highly recommend it. i don’t even use the larger weber because this one is so convenient. superby engineered product and cooks well.
